Professor David L Whitford, MD

David Whitford graduated in medicine from Cambridge and Newcastle Universities. He trained as a Family Physician and practiced for 16 years in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. During this time, he was awarded a Fellowship from the Royal College of General Practitioners and a Doctorate from Cambridge University in 2003. His main area of research was in the development of primary care diabetes and establishing an association between the prevalence of diabetes and socio-economic deprivation. He moved into academic general practice in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 2003 and has published over 60 research papers in international peer-reviewed journals. He took up a post at RCSI Bahrain as a Professor of General Practice to establish community-based teaching. He was subsequently appointed Head of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Research in RCSI Bahrain. He returned to RCSI, Dublin as a Professor of General Practice in 2015. He moved to RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus as Vice-President for Academic Affairs & Registrar in 2017 and took on the role of President & CEO in 2019. He is responsible for establishing the MInTFM training scheme for Family Medicine in Malaysia.

Professor Motowo Nakajima, PhD

Professor Motowo Nakajima, Ph.D. has over 37 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Attaining his BS, MS, and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Tokyo, he has held a wide array of positions, spanning the fields of oncology, neurosurgery, molecular and cellular bioscience, and microbiology in both academic and commercial contexts. Currently, he serves as a director at SBI Pharmaceuticals Co., CSO at SBI ALApharma, and executive director for NX Development Corporation.

Over his career, Dr. Nakajima was a Senior Director of new business and technology transfers at Johnson and Johnson, Chief Scientist at Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and Head of Bio-Organics Research at Ciba-Geigy. Academically, he has served as an Associate Professor with the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences and the Institute of Applied Microbiology in the University of Tokyo, an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, and a Visiting Professor at the Yamagata University School of Medicine and Keio University Graduate School of Health Management in Japan.

Dr. Nakajima has extensive experience in clinical study design, data analysis, and regulatory submissions, particularly surrounding drug development for diabetes and mitochondrial dysfunction and disease.

Professor Stephen Atkin, MD, PhD

Professor Stephen Atkin is Head of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Research at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in Bahrain. He is director of the clinical trials unit and has had wide experience of multisite clinical trials. Previously he was a Professor of Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, and prior to that role he was Professor of Medicine and Head of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Hull York Medical School, UK. He has an established international reputation in clinical and biomedical diabetes research.

Professor Mahir Jallo, MD, PhD

Dr. Mahir Jallo, a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine, Diabetes, and Endocrinology at Gulf Medical University in the UAE, is also a faculty member at the Canadian Academy of Natural Health in Toronto. Additionally, he serves as an Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians MRCP.

Dr. Jallo earned his MB, ChB from Mosul Medical College in Iraq and obtained his postgraduate Board Certification in Internal Medicine (CABM, PhD) from the Arab Board. He furthered his education with an Internal Medicine Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh (FRCP Edin.) and Glasgow (FRCP Glasgow) in the UK. His specialization continued with an Endocrinology Fellowship from the American College of Endocrinology (FACE) in the USA.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jallo has been actively involved in various National and International conferences, often as a speaker, and has been instrumental in organizing the annual GMU Diabetes & Endocrinology Conference since 2012. Beyond his clinical and educational roles, he contributes to the field as an Editorial Board Member and reviewer for numerous international Diabetes and Endocrinology journals. Dr. Jallo has an impressive record of publications in medical periodicals and medical conference abstracts. Additionally, he serves as an Active Principal Investigator in numerous National and International Clinical studies, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing medical research in the field.

Dr. Zaid Jabbar, MD, MS, ABIM and ABOM

Dr. Jabbar earned his BS and MS in medical microbiology and MD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health, he then completed his residency at Loyola University Medical Center

He is a Co-founder, of the Illinois Obesity Society and past president, trustee of the Illinois Obesity Society, Chair of Weight Management Department at Duly Health and Care, Oak Brook Illinois, board certified in internal medicine, and Diplomat American Board of obesity medicine, and weight loss specialist

Dr Jabbar is the founder, CEO, and medical director at Babylon Medical Consulting in Naperville, Illinois 

Dr Jabbar's research has been published in the Journal of diabetes research. His clinical interests include diabetes and advanced management of complex diabetes patients as well as clinical Lipidology and the treatment of chronic kidney diseases
